We want to be a helping hand to our neighbors living in poverty.
We are a nonprofit founded in 2017 partially in response to Charlotte being ranked last of 50 major US cities upward mobility by a Harvard study. Our mission is to help relieve the impact of poverty and homelessness on Mecklenburg County children and their families. We strive to do this through a variety of programs that will provide food, clothing, gifts, resources and assist with other needs as necessary. It is our desire to take care of unmet needs and challenges faced by those living in poverty and/or homelessness throughout the year with the following programs:
Family Assistance Program – A year round program will provide assistance to identified families in need.
- Back to Basics Support provides (but is not limited to) holiday assistance, food, clothing, household supplies, and toiletries.
- Personalized Support also provides (but is not limited to) assistance navigating other community resources as well as resume/job/budget/housing advice and assistance on a personalized level.
Resource List – A comprehensive list of Mecklenburg County area resources will be made available for those in poverty and/or homelessness.
Families will be identified initially through teachers and administration at “Title I” Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools or schools with a high population of students living in poverty and homeless shelters. By working with teachers and administrators, we will ensure that the families we assist are screened and meet qualifications for our program.
