Our Family Success Program is a multi-tiered approach that gives our Family Partners the tools, life skills, and support they need to create a future filled with potential.
Families referred to our Family Success Program don't have the time, connections, or income to overcome the real-world challenges and financial insecurity they face. To gain a better foothold toward upward mobility, they spend 1-2 years in our program and "graduate" with newfound knowledge, skills, and direction. Families are referred through our partner nonprofits and local Charlotte Mecklenburg Schools (we do not accept self-referrals).
Most of our Family Partners have never had someone to encourage, guide, and support them. But that changes fast when they are paired with a Families Forward Charlotte Family Liaison.
Our Family Liaisons are volunteers we train to provide structure, counsel, and compassion to their paired Family Partners. The relationships formed between Family Liaisons and Family Partners and the strides they make together can be miraculous. The bonds and friendships formed can last a lifetime. Boiled down, this is where the magic happens within our program, and when lives are transformed.
If you're looking to be an agent of change in our community, becoming a Family Liaison is a great and rewarding way to do it:

Every month, we offer educational workshops for our Family Partners. These workshops are hosted in collaboration with community partners and cover a variety of essential life skills and topics, from financial empowerment to technology trends to healthy cooking. At every workshop, we provide child watch, a meal, and transportation for all families.
The cumulative impact of these learning opportunities is significant for our Family Partners. As a result of these workshops, they leave our program better equipped and more confident in their abilities to forge a successful path forward.
A unique element of our program allows Family Liaisons to request up to $1,000 in financial assistance for their Family Partners. This money can relieve any financial burden - we purposely don't have any rules or limitations. Whether it's paying a deposit and first month's rent on an apartment or purchasing Uber rides so a family member doesn't have to bus home from work late at night, this money helps families break through the barriers inhibiting their progress.
